Howdy!

My name is Allison Pailes!  I'm so excited to be teaching 5th grade for the second year. I'm a graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. I earned my degree in May of 2006 in Interdisciplinary Studies, with specialization in Middle Grades (4-8) Reading, Language Arts, and Social Studies, as well as ESL.

I am a Dallas native, with a 20 year hiatus, living in Edmond, Oklahoma; Marietta, Georgia; and Houston, Texas. My parents made sure no matter where I lived I remembered that I was a Texan. My husband and I live close to White Rock Lake and enjoy running and walking in the park on a regular basis. I love reading, cooking, and any Aggie athletic event!

This year we are implementing the AVID Elementary program in fifth grade! AVID stands for the Advancement Via Individual Determination. At the elementary level, it is designed to help all students achieve their potential in the classroom by learning organization, speaking, reading, and writing skills, as well as strengthening their ability to interact with others. I'm very excited to see the impact this wonderful program will have on our Northwood Hills students.
