Hi,
My
name is Becky Edwards, and I am proud to be the librarian
at Northwood Hills Elementary.
I
grew up in
Ohio
, where I received my B.S. degree in education from
Ohio
University
. I taught in
Ohio
and
California
, and then we moved to
Texas
. I attended Texas Woman's University, where I earned my
M.L.S. degree.
I
have taught high school math, Montessori preschool, and
junior high language arts, but the best job I ever had is
right here at Northwood Hills.
My
favorite thing about Northwood Hills is the enthusiasm for
learning I see every day in the students, the teachers,
and the parents. My favorite thing to do outside of school
is play with my grandbabies and read them stories.
About
my job.
The
Northwood
Hills
Library
Media
Center
is the research center for
Northwood
Hills
Elementary School
. It serves students, faculty, staff, and parents in the
community.
Students
come to the library weekly with their classes for library
skills lessons, story time, and reading. They may check
out and return books during this time as well as during
the school day as their teachers permit.
The
library maintains a collection of over 12,000 books, along
with magazines, professional resources, and curriculum
related videotapes. We have 12 student computer stations,
which are all connected to our online catalog, the
Internet, and electronic library resources.
What's
Going On?
One
of the great things about the library is the volunteer
effort on the part of our parents. Parents who can
dedicate 30 minutes every week or two really help keep the
library running smoothly. They assist with checking books
in and out, re-shelving books, and various other odd jobs.
If
you are interested, you may stop by the library for more
information or contact Belinda Reeder at 214-908-8918.
