I am so excited to be at Northwood Hills this year!  My name is Kathy Campbell and I will be your Campus Reading Specialist.  

San Diego is my native town and I am an alumnus of San Diego State University.  After graduation, I taught in California for 5 years before my husband’s job change brought us to Dallas.  It was especially difficult to leave my family and the Sunshine State but my husband assured me we would only be in Dallas for 2 years.  Well, it has been 29 years so I consider Dallas home now.

I have been teaching for 23 years, seventeen of those years include classroom instruction.  Then, I had the opportunity to become Reading Recovery Certified, which gave me the experience to work with students struggling in reading.  The joy of watching those students gain strategies, become independent learners and be successful has affirmed why I became a teacher.  I love to see those faces smile!!!

My life has been enriched with my wonderful husband, two grown boys, and the joy of our family dog Indo, a Rottweiler mix.  When I have free time I love to read, walk our dog, play golf, travel with our family and hike, especially in the Rockies !  

My goal for my students is to help them enjoy the love of reading and become life long learners!!
