I love this
place! I have just started at Northwood Hills after 5
years of teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th
grade English to second language learners. I am
overwhelmed at the eagerness of my students, the support
from the parents, and the great school climate at
Northwood Hills.
I graduated
from the University of Texas at Austin in 1997 and
immediately served in the Peace Corps in the country of
Tonga. Those two years showed me that I loved teaching
in the classroom. After a brief time at a local
non-profit, I finally followed in my mother and
grandmother’s footsteps and began to teach. I believe
that this has got to be the best job around! I love
giving kids tangible skills and knowledge that they will
use for the rest of their lives.
I also just
finished a Masters in Educational Administration from
Texas A&M Commerce in August of 2007, so I know I will
be in education for a long time!
Here at
Northwood Hills, I get to read, write, and learn about
Texas with my 4th grade students. In
addition to academics, 4th graders are
getting organized and ready for their upper grades with
AVID Elementary. Just ask any 4th grader to
see his or her AVID binder—hopefully you will be
impressed!
I am honored
to work at this school, and I look forward to working
with everyone in the Northwood Hills community this
year! |
