I'm
Nancy Stevens, counselor at Northwood Hills. My business
is helping children to be their best at NHE.
I
graduated from The University of North Texas with a
bachelor's degree in English and a Master's in
Guidance/Counseling. I have had the privilege of teaching
in RISD for more than 30 years: the first 17 years at West
Jr. High as a seventh and eighth grade English teacher and
the rest of the years as NHE's counselor. No matter where
I go - to Tom Thumb, the bank, or hiking in the Rockies -
I CONSTANTLY and JOYFULLY run into one of my former
students - What a delight!!!
My family consists
of an artistic husband, Hank,
who is building
houses in Fredericksburg and Mason, Texas, an extremely
creative son, Andrew, a recent graduate of UT and
presently living in NYC with a job in advertising and a
lovely musical daughter, Casey, a junior
music/elementary education major at Baylor. We love
traveling in Fredericksburg, Colorado, and Florida,
watching movies, and visiting museums. We are constantly
entertained and loved by our two kitties, Tex and Banjo.
My
favorite counselor jobs are listening to children, working
with mediators, and Kids' Connection groups. This summer's
training for the AVID Institute has me on fire for guiding
children to find their passion and path toward college.
I love my job most because I'm hugged by hundreds of
nurtured, well-educated children every day. What a gift!
